Chariot supplies over 20,000 products via our buying group, and our network of manufacturers and wholesalers. This statement sets down Chariots commitment to preventing slavery and human trafficking in our business activities and the steps we have put in place with the aim of ensuring that there is no slavery or human trafficking in our own business and supply chains.
We all have a duty to be alert to risks, however small. Our employees are expected to report their concerns, and management to act upon them. Chariot follows the guidelines and is committed to conducting its business in an ethical, legal, environmentally sustainable and socially responsible manner.
The companies within Chariots supply chain are all based within the UK; however, many of the products are manufactured around the globe. Suppliers are required to provide a modern slavery statement to Chariot. If a modern slavery statement is not available due to the size of the organisation, Chariot will plan to engage with these suppliers to ensure a commitment is formed to develop a modern slavery statement plan.
The Supplier Code of Conduct, together with the strong supplier relationships, forms the conditions of their association with us. Examples include, amongst other criteria: ensuring freely chosen employment, no child labour, and ensuring minimum wages are paid. Below, is the process in which Chariot assesses whether particular activities or products are high risk in relation to modern slavery or human trafficking.
Examination of the types of products we are sourcing.
Verify the accreditation of brand types through information available from suppliers.
Establish the supply chain involved in the process.
Establish the credentials of each supplier.
Chariot’s Responsibility for anti-slavery:
The Directors of Chariot are ultimately responsible for creating and reviewing policies. The process by which our modern slavery and human trafficking statement is developed involves looking at best practice and adapting to the needs of the business, whilst constantly reviewing our supply chain and identifying any changes in the sourcing of our products.
We carry out training with our staff to ensure they have the required knowledge to identify and understand the signs of modern slavery and what to do if they suspect this is taking place in in our supply chain.
Chariot are committed to working with our entire supply chain to educate and share knowledge on ways we can accelerate the work being carried out to identify and prevent modern slavery and human trafficking.
Recognise our responsibility.
Deliver on our commitment.
Develop and monitor our actions.
Involve our staff.
Engage with our suppliers.
